BOH Prep + Line Cook for Worker-Owned Restaurant
Location: Pidgin Cooperative Restaurant & Bottle Shop
Job Type: Part-Time with option to expand to Full-Time
Schedule: full weekend availability REQUIRED, able to start by May 31st preferred
Roles: Kitchen Team Member (Line & Prep Focus)
Compensation: $25 per hour + Equal Tip Pool (avg $35/hr) + Path to Ownership
Pidgin Cooperative Restaurant & Bottle Shop (Pidgin Co-op) is a worker-owned cooperative built on the principles of integrity, equity and sustainability.
Pidgin Co-op’s mission is to create sustainable and enriching jobs for its Members and employees in the food industry. This is accomplished through the operation of a restaurant and bottle shop, and other food industry endeavors, collectively run by its Members. New employees are encouraged to work towards Membership.
Our kitchen is grounded in comfort food with a Pan-Asian twist, but we are excited to work with our full team of cooks to explore, learn and grow. Expect emphasis on fermented foods, food-waste reduction and highlighting seasonal ingredients from our local farm partners.
We are seeking passionate and versatile kitchen team members who are excited by our mission and our food. Your work will be primarily based in our restaurant kitchen but will also include the opportunity to work at off-site catering events, and potential to cross-train in Front of House support roles offering variety and skill building opportunities.

Collaborative Leadership: Our kitchen leads are here to guide, train, and organize our daily operations, but they actively seek and value input from the entire team.
Varied Workflow: Your work will be diverse, ranging from daily restaurant service to representing our co-op at off-site catering events and private parties.
Shared Tasks: Dishwashing is a shared responsibility that all team members will take part in. We all step in to ensure our collective workspace runs smoothly and stays clean.
The Path to Ownership
We are dedicated to making ownership achievable. After a short probationary period, you will be eligible to begin your journey towards worker-owner membership.
Work Requirement: 2,000 hours of service (approximately one year of full-time work).
Owner Investment: A $1,000 investment over time to purchase your ownership share.
Flexible Payment:We also offer a payroll deduction plan that allows you to contribute toward your $1,000 buy-in during your employment, even before you reach the 2,000-hour mark. Our intention is to make the path to ownership financially manageable.
Upon becoming a member-owner, you will share in profits, have a vote in co-op decisions, and will help shape our future.
Your Role & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities Include:
Prep & Production: Transforming fresh, local ingredients through techniques like fermenting, pickling, sous-vide, and precise knife work for both restaurant service and catering events.
Line Cooking: Executing dishes using modern plating techniques, with speed and consistency.
Collaborative Service: Working in tight coordination with both back-of-house and front-of-house teams in all settings.
Shared Cleaning: Participating in shared dishwashing and cleaning duties
Team Support: Stepping in to help teammates wherever needed.
Catering Support: Packing, transporting, setting up, cooking, and breaking down at off-site catering events as needed
Who You Are
You have a minimum of 3 years working in a commercial kitchen (as a prep cook, line cook, or similar).
You are a team player who enjoys working with others and is adaptable to different settings.
You have full weekend availability and a flexible schedule.
You have a passion for supporting local farmers and showcasing their ingredients, are curious about learning new techniques, and have an interest in new flavors and fermentation.
You are eager to learn all aspects of the kitchen and You have a strong respect for food safety, sanitation, and organization.

Your Roles & Responsibilities
You Are Someone Who Is:
Experienced in customer service, ideally with 1-2 years of restaurant experience (but not required)
Detail oriented
Comfortable with asking questions, getting clarification, and consistent circles of feedback (both giving and receiving) to foster an environment of open communication and clear expectations
Stays calm under pressure while keeping lines of communication open
Interested in building a community with fellow staff and our customers
Can safely lift and carry heavy objects, and knows how to ask for help if they can’t!
