Location: Pidgin Cooperative Restaurant & Bottleshop

Job Types: Full-Time & Part-Time

Roles: Kitchen Team Member (Line & Prep Focus)

Compensation: $25 per hour + Equal Tip Pool + Path to Ownership

Pidgin Cooperative Restaurant & Bottle Shop (Pidgin Co-op) is a worker-owned cooperative built on the principles of integrity, equity and sustainability

Pidgin Co-op mission is to create sustainable and enriching jobs for its Members and employees in the food industry. This is accomplished through the operation of a restaurant and bottle shop, and other food industry endeavors, collectively run by its Members. New employees are encouraged to work towards Membership

Our kitchen is grounded in comfort food with a Pan-Asian twist, but we are excited to work with our full team of cooks to explore, learn and grow. Expect emphasis on fermented foods, food-waste reduction and highlighting seasonal ingredients from our local farm partners.

We are seeking passionate and versatile kitchen team members who are excited by our mission and our food. Your work will be primarily based in our restaurant kitchen but will also include the opportunity to work at off-site catering events, and cross-train in Front of House support roles offering variety and skill building opportunities.

How We Work

  • Collaborative Leadership: Our kitchen leads are here to guide, train, and organize our daily operations, but they actively seek and value input from the entire team.

  • Varied Workflow: Your work will be diverse, ranging from daily restaurant service to representing our co-op at off-site catering events and private parties.

  • Shared Tasks: Dishwashing is a shared responsibility that all team members will take part in. We all step in to ensure our collective workspace runs smoothly and stays clean.

The Path to Ownership

We are dedicated to making ownership achievable. After a short probationary period, you will be eligible to begin your journey to membership.

Work Requirement: 2,000 hours of service (approximately one year of full-time work).

Owner Investment: A $1,000 investment over time to purchase your ownership share.

Flexible Payment: **We also offer a payroll deduction plan that allows you to contribute toward your $1,000 buy-in during your employment, even before you reach the 2,000-hour mark.** Our intention is to make the path to ownership financially manageable.

Upon becoming a member-owner, you will share in profits, have a vote in co-op decisions, and will help shape our future.

Your Role & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Prep & Production: Transforming fresh, local ingredients through techniques like fermenting, pickling, sous-vide, and precise knife work for both restaurant service and catering events.

  • Line Cooking: Executing dishes using modern plating techniques, with speed and consistency.

  • Collaborative Service: Working in tight coordination with both back-of-house and front-of-house teams in all settings.

  • Shared Cleaning: Participating in shared dishwashing and cleaning duties

  • Team Support: Stepping in to help teammates wherever needed.

  • Catering Support: Packing, transporting, setting up, cooking, and breaking down at off-site catering events (seasonal)
